All of the lumber I sell comes from trees removed in urban areas. The trees are removed at the customer's request for various reasons. Sometimes the trees are dead or present an excessive safety issue, sometimes they have outgrown their surroundings or are causing structural damage. Whatever the reason, I am always happy to save them from the mulch pile.
One of the largest benefits of harvesting Urban species in the Bay Area is that I run into a lot of exotic or rare species that are not grown commercially. This is a large, straight Black Acacia. The tree had been dead for a few months.
